Frequently Asked Questions Re:
Accessing your Online Monographs

When I try to open the files they say:  "Auth_ not Eligiblle:: This computer is not currently registered for viewing documents in this series.

We have discovered when that error message occurs it means the computer is not properly registered. It can be that Adobe 9.1 is not installed right, or that the computer registration document is not filled out. We suggest completely removing the current registration and Adobe 9.1 and reinstalling it when you re-register your computer. Also if you have any personal security software, you may want to lower the level of security while registering your computer.

I am on a PC and I can't access my monographs. What should I do?

The best web browser to use for the digital monographs is the latest version of Mozilla Firefox.

Once you have logged into your membership portal on the www2.rosicrucian.org site, go to the section “Manage computer registration for digital monograph downloads”.

In step 1, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the yellow “Download” button to begin the installation of Adobe 9.1. An information bar may appear at the top of your screen asking you to allow the site get.adobe.com to run, if this occurs you will need to click the “Allow” button to download the Adobe Manager Download before you can properly download Adobe Reader 9.1. After Adobe Download Manager is installed you can click the “Download” button to begin the installation of Adobe Reader. If you wait a few seconds the download should begin automatically, if not you will have to click on the link to begin the download. Once Adobe Reader 9.1 has been installed it will prompt you to restart your computer.

In step 2, you are installing the plugin for Adobe Reader 9.1 which allows you to view the monographs by clicking on the link that says, “Click here to download the installer”. The file will download but may not open automatically for installation, and instead be on your desktop. Therefore you will need to find the plugin icon on your desktop and open it to run the plugin installation. A screen will pop-up letting you know the installation was completed. If the plugin option offered in step 2 is not compatible with your computer, please visit http://plugin.fileopen.com/all.html for more plugin options.

After Step 1 and 2 have been completed you will now need to verify your information in step 3 by clicking on the “Registration Document” link. Here you will enter your login for your member portal at www2.rosicrucian.org.  After this step has been completed successfully a PDF certification document will appear letting you know that your computer is now registered to view monographs from the Rosicrucian Order, AMORC. You can then return to your member’s home page and view the monographs under the “Review and/or renew your current membership” link.

When downloading the monographs a box may pop-up stating that it is an “application/octet-stream” and will ask you what you want to do with the file. You are not able to save the monographs, so you want to open the file by browsing for Adobe 9.1, which you installed and will be an option.

If you attempt to open a monograph and receive the error message that the computer is not registered to view the document, it means you have not successfully completed the three registration steps and will need to try again.

Can I register and view the monographs on a MAC?

Macs have a program called “Preview” which views PDFs. This will not work with the monographs, and an actual copy of Adobe Reader for Mac must be installed. Follow these steps:

Once you have logged into your personal portal on the www2.rosicrucian.org site, go to the section “Manage computer registration for digital monograph downloads.”

In Step 1, choose to download the Mac version of Adobe Reader depending on your make and model of Mac computer. (Adobe does not yet have a version specifically for OS 10.6, so simply choose the latest version available.) Install Adobe Reader fully, and if prompted, choose to have Reader display PDFs in the Safari Browser instead of Preview. If you are not prompted, then after Reader is installed, on the Menu bar, go to Adobe Reader |Preferences, choose Internet, and then check “Display PDF in browser using: Adobe Reader

Now, log out of the www2 site and Quit Safari Browser completely.

In Finder, choose the Go menu and then Applications. Find Safari and click once on it. Then go to the File menu and choose Get Info. In the General section, check “Open in 32-bit mode.”

Then close all these windows and reopen Safari, and log back into the www2 site. Go back to “Manage Computer Registration for digital monograph downloads” and go to Step 2.

In Step 2 : (if you are asked to give the plug-in unrestricted access, click yes).  Go to “click here for more installation options” and choose “FileOpen Plug-In Installers for Macintosh. Click on “FileOpenInstaller.dmg.” Follow any instructions you are prompted for.

In Step 3, click to download the Registration Document. This should show up OK. If not, close Safari again and make sure it is operating in 32 bit mode. (You may need to do this each time you want to read the monographs – this is an Adobe vs Mac problem, and we do not have any way to fix this. We anticipate this conflict will be solved in later versions of Adobe Reader.) Supply the requested data as mentioned on the page.

This should complete the registration process. Return to the members home page, and choose “Review and/or renew your current memberships” Click on your AMORC subscription link. In Membership Details, click on “Download Monographs.” Click on the monograph you want to read and it will automatically download to your “Downloads” folder, and open. If you want to read this monograph again, simply find it in your Downloads folder and open it (you must have your internet connection open for authentication).

If you are having difficulties after following these steps, we recommend consulting with the Adobe and Apple Help desks, before calling Membership Services, as they will have the most up-to-date knowledge about their products (Adobe Reader and OS 10.6).

I registered my computer, but was unable to view the monographs online.  The message that came up on the screen was that the computer was not registered to view the monograph. What do I do?

If you can’t view the monographs, you may not have successfully registered your computer.

The first thing you want to try is shutting down the computer and restarting it. Then try accessing the monographs using a different browser. For example, if you are using Internet Explorer, try Firefox.  If you do not have the latest edition of whatever browser you are using, you may want to download that first.

If none of this works please send an email to membershipservices@rosicrucian.org."

Am I able to view the digital monographs on multiple computers?

Members may register up to two computers and may view the monographs on both. You can change the computers, but never more than two may be registered at one time. To change the computers that are registered, please go to the page: Digital Document Registration: http://www2.rosicrucian.org/Site/DigitalDocRegistration.aspx?Tab=3

If you have already registered two computers, you will need to remove one, before adding one.

I registered my computer and can view my AMORC monographs but cannot view my TMO lessons, is something wrong?

At this point only the AMORC monographs are online – not TMO.
