During the 16th and 17th Centuries, mystics and Rosicrucian adepts used the enigmatic language of alchemical symbols to reveal the secrets of nature to those who sought a deeper understanding of the cosmos both within and outside of themselves. Great minds like Robert Fludd, Robert Boyle, Benjamin Franklin, and Isaac Newton did not call themselves scientists but rather natural philosophers--those who sought to reveal the secrets of nature through their own connection with Cosmic laws and principles. Often described as the precursor to modern chemistry, alchemy was much more than a literal search for converting base metal into gold; nor was it simply a means of reducing plant matter into medicinal elixirs and tinctures. In this workshop with Ingrid Young, discover the meaning of such symbols as the philosopher's stone, the elixir of life, and the AZOTH. Uncover the meaning of phrases such as Ora et Labora, the Great Work, and "the rubification of the soul." Learn why alchemy was once considered a sacred path that had to be kept hidden from the curious, why later scientists scoffed at its value, and how today, we have embraced a greater mystical understanding of what was once considered the secret art.
