More Information:
Join us and bring friends and family for the beautiful and very necessary Rosicrucian Peace Ceremony at the Stonehenge Memorial, followed by a picnic / potluck at nearby Maryhill State Park.
11:00 am: Meditation for Peace Ceremony - an opportunity to remind ourselves of our roles to be agents of peace. Venue: Stonehenge Memorial (The builder of this site, Mr. Hill, erroneously believed that the original Stonehenge was constructed as a place of human sacrifice. Concluding there was a parallel between the loss of life in WWI and the sacrifices at ancient Stonehenge, he set out to build a replica on the cliffs of the Columbia as a reminder of those sacrifices and the “incredible folly” of the war.)
11:30 am: Council of Solace - A meditation to send peace and healing into the world - Venue: Stonehenge Memorial
12:15 pm: Picnic / Potluck - Venue: Maryhill State Park, Shelter S2
What to Bring:
Please bring your lawn chairs and blankets, picnic baskets, hamburgers, hot dogs, side dishes, and favorite drinks. Plus one thing to share with everyone! We'll provide desserts and other drinks, plus paper plates, plastic flatware, and paper towels. Bring your yard games, musical instruments (if you feel so inspired!), inflatable boat (because we're next to the river), swimsuits, kites, and card games! Maybe bring a sweater as it's windy up there! Consider bringing a large beach umbrella and sunscreen because it's really sunny up there and a portable table if you have one.
Afterwards, or before all of these events, there is much to see and do in and around Maryhill.
There's the Maryhill Museum, fruit orchards, Maryhill Winery, and the Goldendale Observatory .
If you arrive the night before, definitely check out the FREE telescopes and guided observations at Goldendale. The Goldendale Observatory has a wonderful stargazing presentation and one of the largest public use telescopes in the country.
If you choose to stay overnight, nearby lodging includes the Ponderosa Motel and a Quality Inn and Suites in Goldendale, and the Three Rivers Inn (in Biggs, WA).
