Darkness pervaded all before Light came, but Light came not from darkness, for darkness is the absence of Light.

In this public lecture, we examine the journey of the mystic who aspires to commune with the Divine Intelligence radiating throughout the Universe. It is true that the glistening rose thrives amid prickly thorns. Equally true: the aspirant’s path toward the summit, where the Sacred Rose unfurls its lustre, is strewn with obscure obstacles that may trip the unwary traveler.

This is the so-called Obscure Night, or Dark Night of the Soul—an experience every true mystic comes to know. It is said that the darkest hour comes before dawn, and every returning Initiate can attest to this truth.

Join us as we explore the spiritual struggles and eventual liberation of the mystic on the path to the Divine—the trials of the Obscure Night, where deepening shadows herald the approaching dawn of inner truth, and the seeker is called to confront material illusion and awaken to spiritual freedom.
