One could ask, why study the origins of Astronomy?

Apart from the fact that science and mysticism constitute two complementary domains in the study of consciousness…

It’s important. In the development of humanity on Earth, the first large-scale practical use of Astronomy was the establishment of calendars and chronological dating.

It’s likely you grew up knowing a Christianity condemning Astrology.

But the surprising twist is that theology and religion comes from the awe-inspiring stars.

The development of Astronomy as a science took place in Mesopotamia, and was advanced by the Babylonians.

Observing heavenly cycles, the Babylonians drew three conclusions:

  1. From the regular movement of the planets they concluded that their motion was not the effect of chance, but of an ordering intelligence.
  2. From the cyclic nature of heavenly movements that always repeated identically, they inferred that the world is eternal.
  3. From the return of all celestial bodies to their initial position, they inferred the eternal rebirth of life.

According to their philosophy, the order and harmony of the world are due to Divine Providence, because the phenomena produced in the heavens are NOT accomplished by chance or spontaneously, but by a decision of the gods, fixed in advance, and voluntarily decreed.

Thus the concept of the world’s eternity was put into concrete form by Astronomy.

And it is in studying the universe that we can hope to comprehend our origin, our destiny, and the ultimate aim of our existence.

Come join us in this awe inspiring journey into Science and Mysticism, as we explore the origins of Astronomy.

Members should bring current membership credentials.

We meet regularly the 2nd Sunday of each month at 1 pm at:

417 Welshwood Dr #206, Nashville TN 37211
